Weekend Update: An (Almost) Analog Weekend

This weekend was a much-needed break for us. Things have been so crazy busy and are about to get even busier, so we were probably the laziest people on the planet over the past few days. I made a real effort to not get too anxious about the fact that no work was being done--just the bare minimum, like a few loads of laundry and made beds. That's it. We had friends over on Sunday, and we didn't even cook; we just ordered food. So easy (and lazy)!

When I'm trying to cut some of the anxiety out of my life, I've noticed that I tend to stay off of Instagram, Facebook and the like, which I did the past few days. There's something about seeing how much other people are accomplishing over the weekend that makes me nutty. Is that weird? I noticed too, while we were walking around the Grove this weekend that almost every single person was staring at their phone and doing that telltale Instagram scroll. So instead of participating in their own present, they were looking at what everyone else was up to. It was the strangest thing to see almost everyone doing it at once! Anyway, I digress...

One of the things I have been doing lately, in an effort to shift some of the life-work-balance issues I'm having is trying to prepare more healthful foods for P (and us, too, but it's so much easier to commit to cooking for your child than yourself). I picked up GP's new cookbook a few weeks back and I've had pretty good success with it. Granted I've made mostly dishes from the kids' section, but still. Not bad and super, super easy, which is key for me.

A by product of all this cooking is a desire for more serving ware and table linens. We stopped in Anthro and I just loved the crafty-boho vibe of this table setting.

I ended buying a beautiful bowl which I couldn't find a picture of, but I wouldn't mind picking up these lovelies...

Also desperately need new napkins. I HATE paper napkins, which C is totally perplexed by. So I keep a stash of cloth ones one hand, but they're all looking tired right now. These bright things caught my eye, too...

I have a ton of these place mats from Ikea and I think they'd look amazing with all these colorful linens. I use them all the time, they're always in stock and are super cheap.

These are all so pretty and summery--I'm sure I would use them every weekend.

What pretty things have you picked up for summer entertaining?

All linens and bowls are from Anthropologie. You can get them here.

What did paper napkins ever do to you?
