Restaurant Design: Nopi London (Or How Many Times Can I Write the Word "Brass" in a Single Post?)

Hi everyone! Hope you're all enjoying your summer and getting to log some travel miles while you're at it. Speaking of, I'm just back from London which has quickly become my favorite city. I'm sure I said this about 273 times while I was there but, I'd move there in a heartbeat!

I was there once before in college and this was a much different experience. We had a child-free week  (Sorry P. We'll bring you next time!) of amazing restaurants, site seeing and Wimbledon madness.

Back to design: the best, best, best meal we had was at Yotam Ottenlenghi's Soho restaurant, Nopi. The food could be a whole other blog post, it was that delicious, but round these parts, we stick to the pretty stuff...

Black, white, brass--all the things I love in life.

Touches of brass throughout created the vintage yet modern atmosphere.

These oversized brass books in the downstairs dining room are genius. I especially love how they were repeated in rows on each wall.

Obligatory #infiniteselfie that I took in the mirrored WC. #designdork

The Strawberry Rose Petal Mess was another level of dessert.  Recipe here

And a little inspo board for those of you into the Nopi look.

Anna Wintour's Vogue Office: Get The Look

Yesterday while cruising Pinterest, I came across this pin of Anna Wintour's office at Vogue, which we saw snippets of in 2009's "The September Issue:"

It's been a few years since that film came out and we first saw her office, but the serenity and chicness of the image struck me immediately. Lately I've been drawn to much more classic interiors that look collected as opposed to "decorated", and I think Wintour's office is a perfect example of a space that is both fresh, personal and timeless at the same time. Here's my version of Wintour's office to which I would add enormous clusters of peonies and tons of graphic art:

Travel Tuesday: Scarpetta Miami

While we were in Miami, we had the opportunity to hang by the pool at Fountainbleu. About 30 minutes after we had lathered ourselves up with SPF 60 (no joke), it started to pour rain. So we poked around the hotel for a bit and happened upon Scarpetta. That place is GORGEOUS! Some amateur pics:

Have you every seen a chicer hostess stand????

I haven't be able to stop thinking about it --it literally took my breath away when I walked in. So  I put together a Scarpetta-flavored kitchen for fun:

Imagine warm white shaker cabinets, carrera counters with a big island and that circular, polished backsplash with a pale grey grout.  What do you think? Would you decorate your kitchen like a favorite restaurant?

Goodbye Lilly

Happy Monday, everyone. I'm posting from the Palm Beach area today while visiting family before our cruise in a few days, and I couldn't not post about the passing of Lilly Pulitzer.

Whenever I visit this part of the country, it's almost impossible not to see at least a dozen of Pulitzer's vibrant designs on women of all ages. I wish I could pull this off in LA...

Pulitzer's boarding school pal, Jackie, helped launch the designer's line into the stratosphere, and it's easy to see why: so simple and chic...

A few years back, the Washington Post ran pics of Pullitzer's Palm Beach home. It doesn't get more Palm Beach than this:

We'll miss you, Lilly.
